Last week we gave you the glorious Age of Ultron teaser for the upcoming Avengers film. Pretty full fledged for a trailer, it basically caused all the doubts to drain from my face and it was replaced with a dumb grin. It will be seven months of me gobbling up any news and non-spoilery info I can find about the film.
Todays’s clip is about 70% identical, but deserves a post because we get a nice scene of the Avengers lounging in Stark Tower trading light hearted barbs and competing with Thor’s pride and joy, Mjölnir.
This clip shows exactly why this particular cast is so great. This feels natural, like it could happen if the extraordinary circumstances were real. The look on Thor’s face when Cap rocks the hammer just a bit, Stark’s swagger and Widow’s indifference at the testosterone being spilled all over the floor.
After this sequence we get a repeat of the trailer from the other day, with some slightly extended Ultron dialogue, but this is completely worth watching. The broken, staggering Ultron is probably the most frightening thing I’ve seen in superhero films in a long time. I can’t remember the last time where I actually felt threatened by a movie villain, and Avengers: Age of Ultron may succeed in creating a circumstance of genuine terror.
