Halloween Treat: Ghoul Friend Starring Mickey Mouse

Through my childhood and much of my adult life Disney has played it very safe and if you look at their creative period in the years before the Pixar purchase you will see that it almost killed the company.  Now that John Lasseter is their Chief Creative Officer they have finally started to take some risks.  A fine example is the above which takes a core Disney character and makes him undead.  Something you would never see ten years ago.  They had a cardinal rule of not messing with Mickey’s royal family and it caused him to become stagnant.

These new shorts are clever, slightly subversive and have plenty of nods to classic Mickey films and more modern animators like Ralph Bakshi and John Kricfalusi.

It’s short, amusing and just a little gross.  Perfect for Halloween revelry.  More shorts can be seen here.
